Instructions
One of the most interesting parts of this effort is finding things in the field — viewing various activities to gain insight into how information systems power our organizations now and in the future. This activity, Field Trips, is one quarter of the effort in this course and, as such, deserves some focused effort. This is the focuser for that effort.
The requirement is achieved by a report on your field trip — this is worth twenty-five points and helps reify the real world component of this exploration. Please cover the following items in your report and submit it electronically, whether in this word document or in the body of an e-mail message. The report can be on a trip you took with the class or on a virtual field experience you did on your own.
We are working on some group trips to the field such as the Computer History Museum that you will enjoy. For points (25) from these experiences, the requirement is the same — an approximately one- page discussion, e-mailed to me, which includes the following (each worth 5 points):
1. Description of the Event — What, where, when.
2. Why – How it fit into your interests
3. What you learned
4. How does it apply to item 2 – how does it help you understand your focus. 5. Embellished with Illustrations, pictures, etc.
To earn the points for the Field trip part of this course, complete four reports and send them to me.
Not all of you will be able to attend the group events. Fortunately there are other ways to accomplish this activity. These are (2) take a trip on your own, or (3) do a virtual field trip. This third option you can do in the comfort of your own home at almost any hour of the day or night. We will discuss and show you ways to accomplish these virtual field trips.
