“Analyze ONE or more of these elements: characterization, theme, point of view, setting, style or tone, imagery, or symbolism in the short story “The Chrysanthemums” by John Steinbeck . Support your persuasive thesis with evidence from the primary source or sources. Include 25 paraphrases and/or quotations from at least 5 scholarly literary articles to support or contrast your interpretations. One of the 5 articles should be a peer-reviewed scholarly article to support or contrast your interpretations. Required sources for the articles are Galileo databases such as Literature Resource Center, JSTOR, and Project Muse, as well as books of literary criticism. Since the focus of the essay is literary analysis, avoid using biographical information about the writer. Use scholarly articles and avoid non-scholarly articles and websites. Use MLA documentation for all source material use word processing, one-inch margins, 12-point font & MLA format.
